May 19 – 30, 2025

Hello, Room 206 Families and Friends!

We’re finishing the year strong in Room 206!

We’re down to the final chapters of our class novel, The City of Ember, and excitement is high—we’re looking forward to watching the film adaptation this coming week!

Our Future 2050 projects are complete, and students had the opportunity to share their visions with other classrooms at Plato. They loved presenting their ideas, and I was so proud of their creativity, thoughtfulness, and hard work.

Our memory countdown timeline is filling up fast with all the special moments and experiences we’ve shared this year—it’s been such a joy to reflect on how much we’ve done together.

Students have also finished creating their math review games and are excited to play them with classmates this coming week!

Lastly, portfolios went home last week—be sure to ask your student to walk you through theirs and celebrate all they’ve accomplished.

Hope you’re enjoying the beautiful weather this weekend!

Ms. Beth

April 28 – May 16

The final countdown is on and we are busy in Room 206. We are wrapping up projects, and taking time to celebrate all the growth and memories we’ve shared this year.

In Everyday Math, we’ve returned to working with fractions. The class practiced placing fractions with different denominators on a number line and used benchmarks to help determine correct placement. In geometry we spent time measuring angles—focusing on strategies to find angle measurements with and without a protractor—and practiced drawing angles of specific degrees. We also mastered long division!

Students are working on their final math review project: designing a board game! Each partnership is creating a theme, math question cards, a game board, and a set of directions. This week, they’ll finish building their games, test-play, and then enjoy playing each other’s. We have such a fun variety of themes, and I can’t wait to try them all!

We’ve reached an exciting point in our class novel, The City of Ember. Lina and Doon have discovered the way out, but now they’re being chased by the Mayor and his guards—tension is high!

Meanwhile, students are wrapping up their research projects on the question: What will life look like in 2050? Each partnership has completed a Google Slides presentation and is now working on a creative model to bring their vision to life. Everything is really coming together, and we’re hoping to finish next week so we can share our projects with other classrooms!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Ms. Beth
